UCI Grand Fondo World Championships

You’d be forgiven for thinking the UCI World Championships had finished but now it’s the turn of the ‘Grand Fondo’ World Championships in Lorne (South of Melbourne), Australia from 16^th to 19^th October 2025.

Two club members are participating, Jenny Powell and Linda Dewhurst, representing Great Britain. Wishing them all the best for what will surely be a memorable trip and tough racing with contestants who have had to qualify from all round the world. Particularly those Aussies, who seem very competitive and have home advantage.

The Road Race:

Takes place on Sunday, 19^th October, on a 131km route with 1920metres of climbing, starting and finishing in Lorne. They will be competing in their respective 5year age group band although the race includes all ages from 19 and above.

Jenny was 2^nd last year in her age group at the UCI World Championships in Denmark but enters this as the recent winner of the British Masters Championship.

Linda is the current UCI World Champion in her age group having won in Denmark.

The TT Race.

Takes place on Thursday, 16^th October, on a 23km route with 393m of climbing, along the Great Ocean Road north of Lorne.

Linda is also the current TT UCI World Champion in her age group having won this in Denmark last year too!
