From Abbie.Walden@cancer.org.uk
I am the Event Manager for Race for Life Cheltenham on 29th June 2025 - raising thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
Pretty Muddy and Race for Life events attract large audiences and are vital for Cancer Research UK to continue funding our scientists’ research.
I am reaching out today in the hopes that you might know some keen cyclists willing to take on our key role of 'Lead Bike'? The Racecourse is a mixture of grass, gravel and tarmac, with some steep ascents, so would most likely suit a mountain biker but we'd love to welcome anyone who was game for taking it on!
About Lead Bike
A Lead Bike Volunteer is such an important role at Race For Life. It will be your responsibility to ensure that participants follow the correct course route safely and are on hand to keep them motivated too. Additionally, you will be required to report into Event Control your progress across the course via a radio we provide. Any other valuable information such as hazards etc. would also be useful to report.
As well as Lead Bike, we have many different volunteering roles on the day, including marshalling, obstacle marshal and helping at the start and finish. It’s a fantastic experience and always a really fun day, no matter the weather!
Anyone interested can sign up for the cycle team through our website HERE or by emailing me directly.
If you have any questions please do let me know 😊 I’m keen to create a super community feel for this event and would be lovely to have you along.
Many thanks!
