Did you know that a number of club members regularly compete (and get results) in events outside of club organised events? The 2022 season is still young and already a number of club members have been competing and posting great results outside of Cheltenham! 19th February - Odd Down Crit - Dan Letherbarrow 2nd 9th April - 10m TT - Berkeley - Tom Biggs 4th 15th April - Dales Divide 600km - Harry Walton 3rd 16th April - 10m TT - Berkeley - Mike Skidmore 4th 18th April - BMCR Road Race - Welland - Vicky Wilkinson 2nd 23rd April - Dirty Reiver 200km gravel - Ridden by Dan Letherbarrow, Harry Walton, Spencer Tapia & Mike Skidmore 23rd April - 10m TT Berkeley - Tom Biggs 3rd It will be brilliant to see more club members pin on a number this year and have C&CCC listed on start sheets in races and TTs. Having club mates in the same event is also great for course recces, warm ups, talking tactics and a quick pint afterwards! The calendar How do you know what’s out there? Well, we’ve created a calendar to help! https://docs.google.com/.../1Wf0jEcaGpoSoI.../edit... If you’re taking part in a non club race or event and believe that other members may wish to enter, please add it to the list. Anybody racing, please add your name! There’s also a column for spectators who may wish to ride out or watch a club mate racing in a high profile event! Each month, I plan to give a preview of what’s coming up and identify some focus events where I hope we can coordinate more riders taking part. May's focus event(s) For starters, and I know it’s a club event, but the focus for May will be the 10 mile inter-club TTs with Gloucester City: Thursday (5th) 19:00 - Cheltenham club course (Teddington) - Ride out leaving the Pump Rooms at 17:50. Tuesday (10th) 19:00 - Gloucester course at Chaxhill (A48) - Ride out leaving The Aviator (Staverton Airport) at 18:00. Let’s destroy them! If you have any questions or ideas, please comment below! Any feedback on increasing participation in races is very much appreciated.

The first rider will set off at 19:01 on Thursday evening and this year, Harry has introduced a number of options each week that will provide a great opportunity for those who aren’t so familiar with pinning a number on their back. We’ll be running some no drop ride outs from the Pump Rooms starting next week - 5th May (this week if we get a volunteer to lead!). Meet at 17:45 for a roll out at 17:50. We’ll ride via Dixton and arrive at the HQ together to guide you through sign on, putting on your number, warming up and how to find the start. On the way there’ll be plenty of opportunities to discuss pacing, position and the weather. Junior riders very welcome. In addition to the usual TT bikes, each event will have a road bike category - you can ride this on your normal bike and be ranked against riders on similar equipment! Further, each event will allow for a 2 up TT to be ridden on road bikes - if you don’t fancy trying it alone, grab a mate! Finally, next week is the start of 2 Inter-Club TTs against Glos City. We’re hosting them on Thursday 5th (look out for those strange jerseys at the HQ), followed by a second 10 mile TT hosted by Glos at Chaxhill on the A48 on Tuesday 10th. It will be great to have as many C&CCC riders as possible riding this alternate course and annihilating the competition- I’ll be organising a ride out in the coming week so keep your eyes peeled. A long post and lots of info, comment below if you have any questions! TT checklist: 1. Front and rear lights are mandatory! 2. Familiarise yourself with the info on the club site: https://www.cheltenhamandcounty.cc/tt 3. Complete the online pre-registration. 4. Bring contactless payment.
