Ride for Ryder team have a number of volunteer roles where they need help. Any time help would be fantastic, as always they’re open to chatting in more detail on any of these. The Contact is Matt or Laura at Leckhampton.events@sueryder.org
Start/Finish (Dean Close) – from 7am to 6pm. Marshalling riders in and out, released in waves, cheered off and welcomed back. The hours can be split. Also looking for help from 3pm onwards to help pack down.
Water / Feed Stations – multiple stations across the course active at different times.
Course Marshals – Marshals at key intersections and points to aid the riders making sure they go in the correct direction. Roles can vary throughout the day and aim to allocate people based on what time available. Some of the points are out in the Cotswolds and others closer to Cheltenham.
Sweep vehicles / Broom wagons – Need to have a vehicle (that can carry bikes) also following each route. Vehicle needs to carry passengers and bikes.
Sweep Riders – Riders that ride at the back of each distance (40km, 60km, 90km, 130km and 160km) and help track the riders through them sharing their location (e.g through Whatsapp). Open to Sweepers riding in Sue Ryder Jerseys and wouldn’t be charged to ride. Will need all the details to include them manually as a rider.
Signage Team (removing signs) –Need a team to help on event day (Sunday 9th July) to remove the signs when the relevant back riders and sweep cars have gone through certain points. This requires a team of 2 (one driver and helper to jump out and grab signage). These need to them be dropped back to the hospice at the end of the day on Sunday.
