The cc-cc open Time Trial was successfully held today, a month later than usual which resulted in fine spring weather but a slightly lower turn out of 46 entrants
Overall things ran smoothly without major incident although as usual, there were a few problems sent to test us.
Notably, the highway repair services achieving what surely must be must be a club record for setting up temporary traffic lights on a Sunday morning.
They weren’t there for the first riders off, but after 20 minutes they were up and running for the later and faster riders. Some of whom were temporarily slowed up on the 40+mph run into Cirencester.
After Doug had crunched the numbers, they showed the winner was David Janes in 46 minutes 40 seconds Plus for Strava users – 10 KOM’s.
Previous CCCC member Dean Robson was second in 47:14 with Tavis Walker third in 48:12 Not far behind was Josh Griffiths, fastest junior in an excellent 50.01
Fastest Lady was Donna Short 1:3:41 Tony Chapman was fastest 40yr veteran in 50:45 and Steve Cottington fastest 50+ vet in 51:44
Dursley won the team prize.
The route finishes up the 6% Welsh way wall, which surprised a few who hadn’t expected it.
David Janes was again quickest up here in 1:52 average 17.4 mph.
CC-CC riders were ably represented by John Pinfold 1:08: 34 ( Road bike)
Gary Rickards 54:57 Julian Bullas 56:12 and Mark Hamper 54:48
These club events would not be possible without the help of the volunteers, most of whom have done it many times before but it would be nice to see some new faces next time.
