Tour of Britain Update

There is a more detailed briefing in your email inbox but here is a quick overview of the main news…

The event itself is being billed as a “Festival of Cycling”.  There will be a family fun area in Pittville Park with lots of different rides, a large TV screen and other stuff…and a series of cyclocross races for the under 16s run by the CTWYCC.

The club will be hosting a market stall in the Prom from mid-morning onwards…although it will be mysteriously closed around 3pm for 30 minutes ;-).  The idea is that we will use it as a focal/drop-off point for club members, have a turbo setup and perhaps a few items on as well as club related literature for anyone interested in joining.  There will also be a shared multi-club gazebo in Pittville.

VOLUNTEERS

This is an exciting opportunity for you to get involved in something that could create a cycling legacy for years to come so why not get involved as well as coming along to see the race?

Council Volunteers: Recruited through the weblink and expected to be general helpers (such as youngster shepherds, junction marshaling or perhaps signage assistants, etc).

Club Volunteers:  Guinea pigs for the turbo as well as stall assistants for both the Prom and Pittville.  Also, we need a graphic designer who will help us put together an A5 flyer to be given out.  Any event organisers out there who fancy owning the Market stall as a mini-project and making it happen?

Come on folks, get your hands up!  Expressions of ‘interest’ either directly to the council or ping Robin/Simon an email…
