Audaxes From Norton, Saturday 3rd June

C&CCC club member Steve Poulton is, on behalf of Cheltenham CTC/CUK, organising 3 Audax events (200km, 150km & 100km) which will suit all Club riders:

The 200km over Gospel Pass is a full day out with 3000m of climbing.  The 150 takes a similar route through the FoD to Monmouth and Pandy but routes via Kerne Bridge to climb Yat Rock, to return via Grosmont and the Marcle Ridge.  The 100 is a glorious passage through the FoD to Speech House and Yat Rock, then cross-country to Hoarwithy Bridge for a return over Marcle Ridge.  These are well-proven routes into superb countryside and mostly quiet roads, especially the return after Hoarwithy Bridge (all routes).  The approach (on the 200) to the Gospel Pass is from the South (in the shade of the woods) to enjoy the wonderful descent into Hay.

The entry fee for the 200 and 150 includes a food stop in Pandy Village Hall to fuel riders for the return leg.

For those unfamiliar to the world of audaxing, these are low cost/high VFM rides which are generally planned on quieter roads with pleasurable cycling in mind.  There is no broom wagon or mechanical assistance (outside of fellow riders) and riders are expected to navigate themselves, although a well written routecard or GPS file will be available from the organiser.  To keep things reasonable, there is a maximum speed as well as a very generous minimum speed.  Please see the Audax UK events website for Entry details (PayPal available) or contact Robin (Contacts page or Hotmail) if there are any queries.
