There has been a few important changes in some key positions at the club, as well as some reassuring continuations in post:
John Hawes has completed his stated tenure as Chairman and has left the club with some key areas resolved (like governance, budget guidance and role clarification) as well as competently managing some very difficult events whilst in the full glare of the local press.
The next change is to General Secretary, with Doug Gale stepping down after bringing his sense of proprietary from the past, whilst being keen to help sort out new issues where needed. His recent work has probably gone under the radar of most club members but he has effectively managed the club affairs/affiliations, BC memberships, etc., and generally kept things ticking over.
The next important news is that Martin McGreary has stepped down as Finance Secretary. Martin has always put the same amount of his enthusiasm for riding into helping the club throughout the years with a careful management of finances and a huge (and instrumental) input to key events like HONC.
Finally, Harry Walton has stepped down from the Committee as the Member without Portfolio (which is basically a role created to represent all parties and help governance). Harry is always the voice of common sense so his attendance has been particularly welcome whenever the Committee has looked for solutions.
Here is the current team then:
- Robin Mainwaring, Chairman (& acting Membership Secretary)
- Gary Rickards, Club General Secretary
- Jonathan Nicholls, Finance Secretary
- Simon Worsley, Road Captain
- Charles Zanettacci, Race Captain
- Ed Wilkins, MTB Captain
- Emma Trueman, Ladies’ Captain
- Laura Finucane, Social Secretary
- Rob Haynes, Web Coordinator
- Roger Smith, Member without Portfolio
